Solihull is a historic town in the West Midlands, situated southeast of Birmingham and forming the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull. Its modern economy is closely connected with commerce, professional services, manufacturing and the automotive industry. Solihull is also known for its attractive residential areas, parks and relatively green setting.

The historical and tourist importance of the town

St Alphege Church is one of Solihull's most important historic landmarks, standing beside the traditional town centre. Tudor Grange Park provides extensive green space, sports facilities and pleasant walking areas, while Malvern and Brueton Park offers woodland, wetlands and wildlife close to the centre. The National Motorcycle Museum is nearby and contains one of Britain's most important collections of historic motorcycles. Birmingham city centre, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon are all within convenient reach for longer excursions.

Food, shopping and when to visit

Solihull has a strong selection of restaurants, cafés, traditional pubs, bakeries and independent businesses, alongside extensive modern shopping facilities. The town is known for its high-quality retail environment, while Birmingham provides an even wider range of international cuisine and cultural attractions. Spring through early autumn is particularly pleasant for exploring the parks and nearby countryside, although museums and shopping can be enjoyed throughout the year. Solihull is an excellent base for combining Birmingham with the historic attractions of Warwickshire.
