Holsworthy is a small market town in northwest Devon, situated close to the Cornwall border and surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Devon countryside. The town has medieval origins and developed as an agricultural market centre serving the surrounding rural communities. Its position near the River Deer and the border with Cornwall has given it a longstanding role as a local trading centre. Today Holsworthy retains its traditional market-town character while providing services for a wide rural area.

The historical and tourist importance of the town

The historic town centre contains traditional buildings, St Peter's Church and a long-established market square. Holsworthy is well placed for exploring the countryside of north Devon and the nearby Tamar Valley, while the rugged Atlantic coast is within driving distance.
