The town is also an excellent gateway to Bodmin Moor and the wider landscapes of central Cornwall.

The historical and tourist significance of the town

Bodmin Jail is one of the town's best-known attractions and provides an insight into the history of crime and punishment in Cornwall. Visitors can also explore Bodmin Keep, the historic St Petroc's Church and the Bodmin & Wenford Railway, which operates heritage steam and diesel services. Bodmin Moor, with its granite tors and open landscapes, begins nearby and offers excellent walking opportunities.
